magazine brainstorm

firstly we moved into our magazine groups and begun to brainstorm our initial ideas.
these ideas included a name for the magazine itself, we came up with names such as "EGG"," JABBAWOCKEEZ" "1", "A*", and "BIG BANG". after all these suggestions we then made a decision to name the magazine "BIG BANG" . the genres that the magazine will cover are that of both the hip-hop and r n' b. our target audience is going to be youths and young adults starting from the age of 16, the genders that we are looking to target are both males and females as these genres appeal to both sexes. the magazine will focus on new bands and artists from the u.k and u.s music scene. the magazine will also cover gigs, reviews and as incentives for customers to buy our magazine we will use promotion tactics such as free CD's and key rings.
the ideals that we came up with to put on our front cover was;
reviews, interviews with artist, talking about new hiphop and R&B music, tours from the artist...
our main focus was on the front cover, we decided to come up with straplines, main coverlines, coverlines and the graphics that will be on the front of our magazine. we came up with ideals such as;
main coverline: special interview with a special artist.
coverlines: tours, interviews, reviews
straplines:?
grahics: free cds

magazine brainstorm

we moved into our groups and then we had to decide what we should do for our magazine.
we were given a A2 piece of paper and we brainstormed ideas.
we couldn't decide what the name should be between "EGG" and "BIG BANG" we went with BIG BANG as it goes with our music magazine idea of up coming new artists in both the UK and the US. we decided to go with the genre of R N B and HIP HOP. it is aimed at 16+
we then brainstormed ideas for what should be inside and on the straplines.
our magazine is going to include reviews on new tracks, up coming gigs going on in the local area.
this is good for the audience as it is a good selling point to people who like the music.
we will also include release dates for albums, this is also a good selling point for music lovers.
there will also be reviews on both artists and there tracks and a Q and A answering the publics questions as well as possible.
we might include a free CD with every copy, the other idea for a free item is lyric sheets.
we then went into the computer room to learn how to use the basics for photoshop, this will help us when it comes to making the cover of the magazine.

magazine brainstorm 29th sept

we first brainstorm the ideals for our front cover of our magazine. we came up with the name which was 'BigBang'. we had other ideals on names but it did not work for the type of magazine we are aiming for. we came up with names such as ; jabbawockeez, eggs, one, A*etc.
the music genre we came up with was R&B, rock and hiphop. we then thought that these three genre would make the magazine confusing for the audience. we then decided to use R&B and HipHop. we decided that we was going to be on the front cover ourself. the price for the magazine was going to be £2.99 plus the buyer well get a free CD with the magazine.

in our magazine we came up with ideals such as reviews from other people about a new song they have heard, interviews, gigs, release dates, and fashion. The focal point of our magazine is going to be on new up and coming artists that are creating a buzz in the scene both here in the U.K and U.S.

25th september 2008 media

As a class we analysed a front cover of a magazine called 'Hip Hop' as a class we looked at how the front cover catches the audience's eyes. we talked about how it attracts the audience and what the audience the magazine is aimed at. we then then looked deeper into the magazine looking at the title, main coverline, coverlines, banners, graphic and strapline. these are the convention that helps make the magazine front cover. the title is the biggest font that is on the page. it is probaly the first thing the audience will see when they pick up the magazine. althought the main image of the magazine can also attract the audience first. the main coverlines is the second biggest font on the magazine front cover as this tell you the main story that will be in the magazine. a banner is the strap across the top or bottom of the page. the graphics is often the special offers that the magazine gives you when you by the magazine and the strapline is the subheading.

as a group we analysed the front cover of a of a magazine called Mojo.
we analysed the front cover of the magazine by looking at the layout, masthead, main cover line and cover line, strapline etc. the magazine that my group looked at was 'Mojo'
the genre of the magazine was rock. the main image of the magazine was of a band which covered some part of the title which indicates that the band is more important than the name of the magazine.
we looked at all the convention on the front cover such as the cover line, main cover lines etc.

25th september 1st blog

we first looked as a class a music magazine called hip-hop. we analysed in detail the front cover.

we then got split into groups and analysed  the front cover of the music magazine. our group got  mojo. we looked at the lay out of the page and what draws the reader in, such as the title, the main picture, cover lines. and what the magazine had to offer to the target audience. we discused as a group how the magazine was different to the other magazines and how well or badly it advertised for the target audience. such as they used clif-hangers on the cover lines to intise the audience to buy the magazine and read on.

as a class we analysed the 'hip-hop' magazine which is a british magzine that focuses on u.k artists, pointing out key features that help entice potential customers to buy the magazine. on the front cover of the 'hip-hop' magazine there 6 u.k artists posing to seem like they were standing tall; due to the fat that the strap line said "u.k stand tall!"

after this we were split into groups and then analysed different magazines as groups. my group analysed the 'mojo' magazine which had on the front cover 'queen' (a famous rock band from 80's).
